2nd Annual Cat6 Tour of Flanders Ride and Belgian Tasting Event
Devolder won again. The beer tasted delightful. The food was scrumptious. Ray was just as whiny. G wore her hot pants. Hell, with the exception of Skidsy smearing his face into the pavement of Stevens Square on the way home and DS’ unavoidable absence, this year’s event pretty much took the cake.
The weather wasn’t as epic as it should have been, but the ride still kicked ass as the group of fifteen-ish c6 and not so c6ish faces climbed up every brutal hill in the metro area. The intensity of the hills wasn’t enough to amuse them, so the group racked up the miles while simulataneously making up fake flemish-sounding names for the various hellingen: Ohioberg, the Muur de Ramseymont…etc. The ride was cut a bit short of the published route in order to make it back plenty early to enjoy a bit of the dutch brown ale, before the official start of the event. Specq comments, “Mmm. Such a lovely shade of brown, the Dutch…”
Everyone made it safely to Bulldog where the sampling began. All the cool kids were there. With their entry, every one soaked up nearly 40 ounces of highly alcoholic Belgian beer and snacked on some tasty bites including mussels, a leek tart and a beef and fries contraption that was nothing short of absolutely heavenly.
Thanks to everyone that showed and for your support of the crit and Category 6 Racing Squad. We’ll see you at the Massacre on Machinery Hill, pre-reg coming soon.
