Everybody wants to have fun… and nothing says “fun” like a group ride with your peers. So it’s technically “Spring” and there’s still snow on the ground. The roads are clear, and it’s time.
Check out this week’s ride(s) on the Cat6 Message Board – Rides
About the Ride
Helmets are always a good idea… aero bars on a group ride, not so much. Cat6 rides are open rides. Riders from many abilities and teams participate. The goal is to have a fairly steady, spirited paced ride, where those choosing to get in more of a workout can come to the front for long pulls, attack on the climbs, and/or go for sprint lead-outs. Rides average 17-19+mph, including stops. Straights will hold in 22-24mph and 34+mph needed to contend for a sprint sign.
We make every effort to make it a no-drop ride, but unfortunately that can’t be a guarantee. Please familiarize yourself with the route prior to joining. We also expect you have the means and the know-how to change a flat, can work those lever thingies on the handlebars and would be able to finagle a ride home in case of a mechanical we can’t collectively fix. We challenge ourselves on the hills and we’re not afraid to sprint (safely, of course) for city limit signs. But after any hill or sprint we always wait to fully regroup, while pretending we’re not completely out of breath.
